29 Sep Tord Gustavsen brings scandinavian jazz to Portugal in November
Norwegian jazz pianist Tord Gustavsen will perform in Portugal in November: on the 4th at Cine-Teatro Avenida, in Castelo Branco, on the 5th at the Caldas Nice Jazz festival, at CCC in Caldas da Rainha, and on the 6th at Teatro Micaelense, in a concert integrated in PDL Jazz – Ponta Delgada International Jazz Festival.
‘Changing Places’ (2003), ‘The Ground’ (2005), ‘Being There’ (2007) and the most recent ‘The Other Side’ (2018), described by the specialized press as an album of “hypnotic hymns of absolute beauty, taste and originality”, will be some of the works presented in this tour through Portuguese stages, in which Tord will be accompanied by his trio, composed by Jerle Vespestad on drums and Ellen Brekken on bass.
With a total of eight albums released in various formations by the legendary ECM Records, Tord Gustavsen is one of the most important figures in Scandinavian jazz. Throughout almost 20 years of career he has accumulated numerous distinctions, from the Norwegian Grammy, the Spellemannsprisen, to the prestigious CHOC criOcal (France), the Bell Award for the best international Jazz Album (Australia), Recording of the Month in Stereophile Magazine (USA), and the NOPAs Musikkpris for the Best Jazz Composition.
After a last tour in Portugal in 2015, Gustavsen now invites the Portuguese audience to a journey through the serene and minimalist landscapes of Nordic Blues, where words give way to harmonic environments deeply poetic and meditative.
