Monday

Monday (Catarina Falcão) is one of the most striking voices in Portugal’s new pop/indie scene: emotive, cinematic, and constantly evolving. Following “Underwater, feels like eternity” and the EP “Live Underwater”, she is currently preparing a new album and tour for 2027.

A respected figure in the Portuguese alternative scene since 2014 — when she first emerged alongside her sister Margarida Falcão in Golden Slumbers — Catarina Falcão began her solo career in 2018 with the album “One”. Since then, she has continued to establish her own artistic identity through a deeply emotive voice, a cinematic aesthetic, and a musical language that blends American folk, indie, and a delicate pop sensibility.

In 2020, she explored a different sonic direction with the EP “Room for All”, a collection of vibrant, colorful songs. Released in Japan, it was named one of the best albums of the year by specialized critics. Reflecting a shift towards a more pop/indie aesthetic, with synthesizers and enveloping guitars, the record featured the singles “Convictions” and “Little Fish”.

Her second album, “Underwater, feels like eternity” (2024), self-produced, presents delicately arranged songs carried by a voice that conveys both fragility and resilience — qualities that are faithfully translated in her live performances. The album includes tracks such as “When I Loved Another Man” and “Wasteland”, as well as the duet with Afonso Cabral on “Habits”.

In 2025, Monday stripped things back even further with the EP “Live Underwater”, featuring intimate live versions of several tracks from the album, reinforcing the emotional depth and honesty that define her artistic universe. A new album is scheduled for early 2027, with the tour set to begin around the same time.
