Canções para beber com Pessoa
“Canções para Beber com Pessoa” is the second album in which Ana Deus and Luca Argel take on the great responsibility of setting the poetry of the timeless Fernando Pessoa to music. This time, they draw from Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám, considered the book with the most handwritten notes by Pessoa in his entire private library. In these pages, Fernando Pessoa experimented with translations of the Persian poet’s verses and sketched out some of his own original lines.
With regular meter, focused on the pleasures of leisure and wine, existence, the passage of time, or fate, this marks the first time Pessoa’s rubáiyát are transformed into music.
In an intimate format (two voices and one guitar), the duo returns to the stage with another batch of songs, where the words of Fernando Pessoa are served in small, refreshing doses. The intensity and crystalline presence of Ana Deus’ voice is paired with the delicacy and sweetness that Luca Argel’s interpretation is well known for.
