06 Oct “Menina/Branco/Eva” Trilogy: Cristina Branco Celebrates 30 Years of Her Career with a Special Tour
In February and March 2027, Cristina Branco will kick off celebrations marking 30 years of her artistic career with a brand-new show dedicated to the album trilogy Menina / Branco / Eva.
The singer revisits three landmark albums from her career in a tour that will take her to Cineteatro Louletano on February 13, Teatro Aveirense on March 4, and Teatro Maria Matos in Lisbon on March 9. Tickets for the Lisbon concert are already on sale.
The setlist for this special show revisits the album trilogy comprising Menina (2016), Branco (2018) and Eva (2020). Named Album of the Year by the Portuguese Society of Authors (SPA), Menina opens this cycle, which marked a turning point in the artist’s career by bringing together unconventional collaborations and exploring different musical worlds.
The trilogy features composers and songwriters as diverse as Sérgio Godinho, António Lobo Antunes, Jorge Cruz (Diabo na Cruz), André Henriques (Linda Martini), Kalaf Epalanga (Buraka Som Sistema), Filho da Mãe, Nuno Prata and Peixe (Ornatos Violeta), Pedro da Silva Martins (Deolinda), Luís Severo, Filipe Sambado, Márcia, Sara Tavares, Beatriz Pessoa and Mário Laginha, giving rise to fresh, contemporary interpretations of fado.
Menina thus marked a turning point in Cristina Branco’s career, bringing fado into dialogue with new musical languages and bringing together diverse artistic worlds. Branco deepened this dialogue, asserting an open, plural and restless musical identity. Eva brought the trilogy to a close with a more intimate and personal approach. It functions almost as the diary of the character Eva Houssman, a Danish photographer, and revolves around the question: “What does freedom mean to me?”
On stage, Cristina Branco will be joined by her longtime musical collaborators: Bernardo Couto (Portuguese guitar), Bernardo Moreira (double bass) and Luís Figueiredo (piano).
“It may be worth what it’s worth, but it is never too early—or, in this case, too late—to be whoever I want to be. Time is not a limitation. I can change or always remain the same person; there are no rules to this. I have always sought out things I didn’t have, things I hadn’t seen before. I always want to be proud of that. If that doesn’t happen, I simply want to have the courage to start again. That was the premise behind Menina / Branco / Eva, which we are now celebrating! Welcome to this home of mine—and yours!”
