07 Nov Tindersticks begin tour in Portugal today with all 5 concerts sold out
The iconic British band Tindersticks returns to Portugal today to present their latest album, “Soft Tissue”. With sold-out concerts in five cities—Covilhã, Leiria, Aveiro, Porto, and Lisbon—this tour promises to be a memorable milestone for Portuguese audiences.
More than 25 years after their debut on Portuguese soil, in an unforgettable concert at Aula Magna that lead singer Stuart Staples still recalls as one of the most significant of his career, Tindersticks maintain a special bond with Portugal. The enthusiastic reception from fans at each visit confirms this unique relationship, as seen in their 2022 concerts at Lisbon and Porto’s Coliseums, where they celebrated 30 years of their career.
“Soft Tissue”, the band’s latest work, marks a new creative phase for Tindersticks. This album presents an even more mature and introspective sound, exploring themes of vulnerability and renewal, where sophisticated orchestrations and subtle arrangements guide the listener on an emotional journey. Laden with melancholic beauty and rare depth, Soft Tissue reaffirms the band’s ability to reinvent their sound while staying true to the identity that has earned them a devoted fan base. It is a work that captures the essence of Tindersticks while revealing fresh nuances.
Since the 1990s, Tindersticks have stood out for the originality and intensity of their compositions, characterized by lyrical depth evocative of great literary works and complex melodies with melancholic orchestrations. Their music, often compared to the dark romanticism of Leonard Cohen, Ian Curtis, and Scott Walker, as well as the dark pop of Lee Hazlewood, makes Tindersticks a unique and captivating band.
In addition to the new songs from “Soft Tissue”, the setlist for these concerts will include some of the band’s greatest hits, taking the audience on a journey through some of the most iconic moments in their extensive discography. This return to Portugal is eagerly anticipated, and the five concerts promise to further solidify the strong bond between Tindersticks and the Portuguese public, in a chapter that will surely enrich the long love story between the band and Portugal.
