30 Jun Monday is the new Locomotiva Azul artist
With influences ranging from alternative indie-pop and folk to cinematic melancholy, Monday’s music inhabits an intimate, modern, and deeply honest universe. Her latest album, Underwater, feels like eternity, available on all digital platforms, is a powerful testament to that vision.
Known for her emotive, captivating voice, dreamy aesthetic, and folk-rooted sound infused with pop sensibility, Cat Falcão has been carving out her place in Portugal’s alternative music scene since 2014—first with the duo Golden Slumbers, and later as a solo artist under the name Monday.
In 2018, she released her debut album One, followed in 2020 by Room for All, a vibrant collection of songs that also saw release in Japan. The EP was widely praised and featured on several year-end best-of lists across national media.
In May 2024, she unveiled Underwater, feels like eternity—a dreamlike album of delicate arrangements, self-produced, that delves into the nostalgia of youth’s end and past relationships. Minimalist in its production yet rich in emotion, the record stands as a statement of sensitivity, identity, and a voice to watch in contemporary Portuguese music.
Earlier this year, the artist launched the Live Underwater project, in which she performs intimate live renditions of tracks such as “Wasteland,” “When I Love Another Man,” and “One Foot in Line.” This initiative, offering a new layer of emotional depth to her work, is set to continue with more to come soon.
