Cristina Branco: the Ambassadress of Fado reveals what’s coming in 2022

On the verge of celebrating 25 years of career, Cristina Branco continues to tour ‘Eva’, her most recent album, in Portugal and abroad. 2022 is also taking shape, with several concerts already scheduled.

Recently returned from a successful mini-tour in Scandinavia, Cristina Branco will finish the year with three more concerts: on the 10th and 11th December the singer will go on stage at Auditório de Espinho, accompanied by the prestigious pianist Mário Laginha and the Espinho Jazz Orchestra. The following week, on the 17th December, Cristina will present ‘Eva’, her most recent album, at the prestigious Theatro Circo, in the Portuguese city of Braga. Accompanied by Bernardo Couto on the Portuguese guitar, Bernardo Moreira on the double bass and Luís Figueiredo on the piano, Cristina will reveal the intricate songs and stories of her latest work.

‘Eva’, released in 2020, is an unpredictable work, rich in filigree and details that reveal Cristina’s intimacy and human depth. The album emerges in the form of a question: “what is freedom for me?”. We find the answer in the diary of Eva Haussman, an alter-ego of the singer. Through the delicate firmness of Cristina Branco’s voice, we open the doors to this which is Cristina’s most personal and intimate work to date.

2022 is also taking shape, with several concerts already scheduled. Among others, Cristina will perform in Germany, Belgium, Holland, Hungary, Sweden, Switzerland, Czech Republic and Portugal. Cristina Branco is also one of the first names confirmed at the Jazz Sous Les Pommiers festival, which will happen in May in the city of Coutances, France, and where Cristina appears alongside names such as Brad Mehldau, Ibrahim Mallouf, Hamilton de Holanda and João Bosco.

Cristina Branco began her musical career in 1998, becoming an indefatigable ambassadress of Portuguese culture. Over the last two decades Cristina Branco has established herself as one of the most inspired and prolific singers of Portuguese music, producing a remarkable discography of more than 17 albums. Traditional Portuguese music is her main aesthetic, but the influence of Jazz, literature and the musicians with whom she usually shares the stage, help to give her music its universal character and sublime charm.
