Cristina Branco live in Madrid this weekend at Teatro Albéniz

Cristina Branco continues her ‘mãe’ world tour with a stop in Madrid for a concert at the prestigious Festival Fado, held at Teatro Albéniz on Saturday, June 8th.

In 2024,  Cristina Branco has already performed in more than twenty venues around the world, from Latin America to Europe, presenting her latest album “Mãe”. It has been a year full of concerts that also included performances of the album “Abril”, revisited in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.

Cristina Branco will perform in Madrid with her usual trio, consisting of Luis Figueiredo (piano), Bernardo Couto (Portuguese guitar) and Bernardo Moreira (double bass), thus embarking on a heartfelt tribute to traditional fado, evoking great authors of Portuguese literature, as is her custom.

With 18 albums released, extensive world tours, and various awards, including two Prix Choc by Le Monde de La Musique magazine, Cristina Branco is a true embassador of Portuguese culture. Traditional music is at her core, but the influence of jazz, literature, and the musicians she collaborates with gives her art a universal dimension.

“You can listen to this record as if it were a ballet (…) The result is always surprising. And beautiful, it has to be said.”
in Time Out, 01.10.23

Cristina Branco’s new album is called “Mãe” (…) Once again, It is a diamond. (…) Branco returns to traditional fado and keeps what is fundamental: the truth.
Valter Hugo Mãe (writer), in Notícias Magazine, 08.10.23

“When Cristina Branco chooses to, she is a stunning fadista. Just not an orthodox one”
in Songlines, 01.11.23

“It is perhaps her most emotionally profound album: Cristina Branco is back with “Mãe” (“Mother”) and penetrates the depths of human existence with her fado”
in hr2 kultur.

“Magical music that reaches the heart!”
in Music

“a breathtaking musical masterpiece […] This album invites the listener on a journey of rediscovery and reinvention of Fado.”
Rhein Main Magazine
