13 Mar Cristina Branco announces concert at Casa da Música on December 17th
The concert in Porto reflects the singer’s intense connection with the essential work of José Afonso. Tickets are already on sale at the usual outlets.
“Menino d’Oiro”, “Venham Mais Cinco”, “Redondo Vocábulo”, “A Morte Saiu à Rua” and “Índios da Meia Praia” are some of the 16 compositions to be evoked in the show in which Cristina Branco sings José Afonso. In the concert on 17 December, at 9 pm, at Casa da Música, in Porto, the singer will be accompanied, as usual, by excellent musicians: Ricardo Dias (piano), Bernardo Moreira (double bass), Alexandre Frazão (drums) and Mário Delgado (guitar).
Póvoa de Varzim, Vila Real, Covilhã, Grândola, Loulé (MED Festival) and Lisbon (São Luiz Municipal Theatre) were some of the venues that, as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25 de Abril, have had the privilege of hosting this tribute to the repertoire of the singer-songwriter of Liberdade. Now it is the turn of the Invicta City to witness this moment of such significance live. In this return to the stage of the project that captures the essence of the genius of Portuguese popular music that was José Afonso, the singer promises to expand the repertoire of the album “Abril” (2007), revealing the artistic singularity that has marked her remarkable career, already based on 18 recordings, acclaimed both in Portugal and internationally.
