01 Feb Tord Gustavsen Trio live in Setúbal to join the Círculo Jazz Fest lineup
As part of the 13th edition of the Círculo Jazz Fest, the renowned Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen will take the stage at the Luísa Todi Municipal Forum in Setúbal on February 17th at 9:00 PM.
A trio concert featuring the skill of bassist Steinar Raknes and the energy of Jarle Vespestad on drums, alongside Tord Gustavsen on piano and electronics. These exceptional musicians collaborated on the latest work “Opening” (2022), an album released by the prestigious ECM Records that combines the subtlety of Nordic jazz with profoundly poetic harmonic environments. Highlighted in Pitchfork, The New York Times, and The Guardian, and recognized as ‘Editor’s Choice’ in Jazzwise magazine, “Opening” has not only won critical acclaim but also captured the hearts of audiences worldwide, such as at the Montreal and Vancouver Jazz Festivals, London Jazz Festival, and Molde Jazz Festival.
Tord Gustavsen seeks musical beauty stripped of artifice and explores emotional intensity like few others, as evidenced by the eight albums released throughout his career, for which he has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Norwegian Grammy and the Bell Award for Best International Jazz Album.
