14 May Tindersticks release ‘New World’ single ahead of new album ‘Soft Tissue’
The Tindersticks have just released the single ‘New World’, a significant track that serves as an introduction to their highly anticipated 14th album ‘Soft Tissue’, set to be released by City Slang on September 13, 2024.
‘New World’ was the first song written for ‘Soft Tissue’ and serves as a link to the other tracks on the album, which reflect the restlessness provoked by the new times. Musically, this new single picks up where ‘The Waiting Room’ (2016) left off, taking listeners to unpredictable territories. As Stuart Staples says, “in this band, I think there is a lot… I was going to say talent, but it’s not about talent, really, it’s about this desire, this need to reach for something and go to places we haven’t been.”
In ‘New World’, Julian Siegel’s brass arrangements, one of the most acclaimed musicians on the British jazz scene; Dan McKinna’s strings; and Gina Foster’s backing vocals enrich the song, while Stuart Staples’ introspective reflections transport us to the band’s very own universe—sophisticated and contemplative.
The legendary British band will return to Portugal in November for a tour with dates scheduled for Covilhã, Leiria, Aveiro, Porto, and Lisbon. With over 30 years of history and a career full of unforgettable songs, the Tindersticks are ready to surprise once again.
“It is truly invigorating to be completely fascinated and slightly disturbed, seeing a band at the beginning of something that promises unimaginable greatness.” — Melody Maker
