22 Apr Come and see: Cara de Espelho release “Elefante no Hemiciclo”
New single now available on all digital platforms. Live premiere at the April 25th concert in Palmela.
The band Cara de Espelho presents today “Elefante no Hemiciclo”, a new song that blends satire and social criticism with sharp humor. The single marks the band’s return to recording after the release of their debut album “Cara de Espelho”, which came out in January 2024.
With lyrics by Pedro da Silva Martins and arrangements by the band, “Elefante no Hemiciclo” paints, through caricatured imagery, a keen portrait of contemporary political and social phenomena.
The self-titled album “Cara de Espelho”, released in January 2024 and featuring “Corridinho Português” as one of its first singles, stood out for its unique sound, combining Portuguese musical tradition with a contemporary and experimental approach. The album’s authenticity and innovation earned the band a prominent place on major national year-end best album lists by outlets such as Expresso, Blitz, and Rádio Radar, cementing their status as one of the boldest acts in Portuguese music.
Their live performances also left a mark on stages such as FNAC Live, Festival MED (Loulé), FMM Sines, and Festival Bons Sons, which earned them two nominations at the Iberian Festival Awards in the Best Live Performance categories. This coming summer, they’re gearing up for a new challenge: performing on the opening day of MEO Kalorama in Lisbon.
The collective, recently awarded Best Band at the Futurawards, is composed of Pedro da Silva Martins (songwriter for Deolinda, Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Lena d’Água), Carlos Guerreiro (Gaiteiros de Lisboa, José Afonso, Fausto, GAC), Nuno Prata (Ornatos Violeta), Luís J. Martins (Deolinda, António Zambujo, Cristina Branco), Sérgio Nascimento (Sérgio Godinho, David Fonseca, Humanos, Deolinda), and Maria Antónia Mendes (A Naifa, Señoritas).
