29 Sep Cara de Espelho debut in Açores with three concerts
Horta, Santa Maria and Ponta Delgada welcome the band for the first time, in a show spanning both albums released by Cara de Espelho.
Cara de Espelho will travel to the Azores in February 2027 for three concerts across three islands. The band’s Azorean debut will take place on 20 February at Teatro Faialense, in Horta, followed by Atlântida Cine, in Santa Maria, on 25 February, and Teatro Micaelense, in Ponta Delgada, on 27 February.
On stage will be the universe Cara de Espelho have been building since their debut album: songs rooted in observations of everyday life, exploring behaviours, small ambitions, certainties, contradictions and absurdities.
The band’s music brings together traditional-rooted instruments, guitars, bass and drums, alongside electronics, timbral experimentation and unconventional rhythms. At its core are voice and lyrics: Pedro da Silva Martins’ writing transforms recognisable characters, speeches and situations into songs shaped by irony, satire and a distinctive perspective on the present.
Formed by Carlos Guerreiro, Luís J Martins, Maria Antónia Mendes, Nuno Prata, Pedro da Silva Martins and Sérgio Nascimento, Cara de Espelho released their self-titled debut album in January 2024. Two years later came “B”, their second album of original material, further developing the group’s musical and narrative identity and giving rise to a new national tour.
The show now coming to the Azores brings together songs from both albums, including some of the tracks that best define the band. Live, these stories take on another dimension, while humour—often hidden in a line or an apparently innocent melody—opens the door to a portrait of a country shaped by small powers, recognisable characters and all-too-familiar contradictions.
Following performances at some of Portugal’s leading venues and festivals, as well as the national tour presenting “B” throughout 2026, the February concerts mark a new chapter in Cara de Espelho’s journey.
