Brazilian artist nominated for Best Portuguese-Language Roots Music Album and set to perform the album in four concerts as a duo with music producer Elísio Freitas.
Juliana Linhares has just been nominated for the 27th Latin Grammy Awards in the Best Portuguese-Language Roots Music Album category, with Até Cansar o Cansaço, the second album of her solo career.
The nomination places the Brazilian singer, songwriter and actress in a category that also includes Carminho, with Eu Vou Morrer de Amor ou Resistir; João Gomes, Mestrinho and Jota.pê, with Dominguinho Vol. 2 (Ao Vivo); Psirico, with Molho Lambão; and Zaynara, with Amor Perene.
Just over a month after the nominations were announced, Juliana Linhares returns to Portugal to perform Até Cansar o Cansaço live, with shows in Ponta do Sol, Madeira, Évora, Lisbon and Póvoa de Varzim, as part of a tour running from 21 to 31 October. The concerts will be presented as a duo, with Elísio Freitas, the album’s music producer, on guitar.

Juliana Linhares has been establishing herself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Brazilian music, bringing together music, theatre, the body and Northeastern Brazilian culture in a language entirely her own. Brazilian magazine CartaCapital named Até Cansar o Cansaço one of the year’s major releases and highlighted Juliana as an “interpreter with a rare stage presence, a strong repertoire and remarkable command of the stage.”
The album grew out of an exploration of exhaustion, sleep and dreams, shaped by Juliana’s engagement with the work of Brazilian neuroscientist Sidarta Ribeiro. Featuring 11 tracks, it combines original compositions with reinterpretations of songs by Elino Julião, Belchior and Manduka, as well as guest appearances by Ney Matogrosso, Agnes Nunes and Anastácia.
The album was produced by Elísio Freitas, who accompanies Juliana on guitar throughout this Portuguese tour. The artistic direction is by Marcus Preto, while the overall artistic concept was developed by Juliana Linhares herself.
