Tord Gustavsen Trio – Portugal (2021)

180

The Norwegian jazz pianist Tord Gustavsen performed in Portugal in November 2021: on the 4th at Cine-Teatro Avenida, Castelo Branco, on the 5th at the Caldas Nice Jazz festival, CCC in Caldas da Rainha, and on the 6th at Teatro Micaelense, in a concert included in PDL Jazz – Ponta Delgada International Jazz Festival.

With a total of eight albums released in various formations by the legendary ECM Records, Tord Gustavsen is one of the most important figures in Scandinavian jazz. Throughout his almost 20 year career he has accumulated numerous distinctions, from the Norwegian Grammy, the Spellemannsprisen, to the prestigious CHOC criOcal (France), the Bell Award for the best international Jazz Album (Australia), Stereophile Magazine’s Recording of the Month (USA), and the NOPAs Musikkpris for the Best Jazz Composition.

After a last passage through Portugal in 2015, Gustavsen now took the Portuguese audience to a journey through the serene and minimalist landscapes of Nordic Blues, where words give way to deeply poetic and meditative harmonic environments.

The trio’s concert in Castelo Branco was part of the Locomotiva Sessions programme, a cycle created by the agency and cultural producer Locomotiva Azul.
