23 May Rocío Marquez releases new album: “Himno Vertical”
The Andalusian singer Rocío Márquez presents her new album, Himno Vertical — a work that delves deeply into the roots of flamenco, intertwining them with the power of classical and contemporary poetry.
The album features an intense and expressive repertoire of fandangos, tangos, verdiales, soleá, seguiriyas, malagueñas, and bulerías, with original lyrics, alongside three musical settings of poems by William Shakespeare, Juan de la Encina, and Friedrich Schiller. This project reaffirms flamenco as a living language in constant reinvention. “Didacto 1” é o single de apresentação deste trabalho que reúne 11 composições.
“Himno Vertical unfolds as a spiral with no clear beginning or end; at its center lies the void — a space where creation and dissolution intertwine in eternal balance,” explains the artist herself.
