23 Jan Luca Argel releases the album “O Homem Triste”
“O Homem Triste”, the new album by Luca Argel, is released on January 23, following the launch of the singles “Primeiro Mar” (January 2), “Arqueologia do Armário” (January 9), and “Se Acabou” (January 16). Produced by Moreno Veloso, the record brings together songs that reflect on the ways men learn—or fail to learn—to deal with their own emotions.
Starting from an intimate experience, Luca Argel addresses themes such as frustration, sadness, failure, and the difficulty of acknowledging vulnerability. “O Homem Triste” is born from the awareness that many men grow up without an emotional vocabulary to understand what they feel, having been taught to hide pain, avoid asking for help, and confuse strength with invulnerability. Throughout the album, these issues are explored without closed statements or definitive answers. The songs function as spaces for listening and identification, where fragility emerges not as weakness, but as an inevitable human condition. Moreno Veloso’s production follows this approach with subtlety and precision, creating a sonic environment that respects the word, the pacing, and the breathing of each theme.
Musically, “O Homem Triste” is built on an organic and plural language, with Luca Argel’s voice and acoustic guitar at its core, in dialogue with an ensemble that brings together drums, bass, percussion, guitars, and keyboards—filtered through a keen attention to popular song and contemporary songwriting. The presence of a string orchestra, with arrangements by Marcelo Caldi and performed by the Arnema Orchestra under the direction of Sílvio Cortez, adds a symphonic dimension that expands the album’s sonic universe and underscores its aesthetic ambition.

Along this journey, echoes can be found of traditions ranging from Brazilian popular song to intimate folk and contemporary singer-songwriter music, passing through references to acoustic traditions and orchestral textures which—just as in singles such as “Primeiro Mar,” “Arqueologia do Armário,” and “Se Acabou”—combine sobriety, lyricism, and a distinctive narrative sensitivity. The choice of Moreno Veloso as producer further strengthens this bridge between universes, roots, and musical territories that are central to Luca Argel’s artistic identity.
Accompanying the album, the musician also developed the Mapa d’O Homem Triste (Map of O Homem Triste), a symbolic cartography that expands the album’s universe. In this map, emotions, silences, and zones of conflict are transformed into places and imaginary routes, inviting a free and subjective reading. Far from functioning as a guide or a closed interpretation, the map presents itself as a visual and poetic extension of the songs, reinforcing the project’s artistic and emotional dimension.

More than an autobiographical exercise, “O Homem Triste” offers a generous perspective on what it means to be a man in a world full of dangerous ready-made formulas. The album invites empathy, care, and the possibility of richer, more conscious relationships—with oneself and with others. With this record, Luca Argel deepens an artistic path attentive to the contradictions and challenges of the emotional and human dimensions of contemporary experience, establishing “O Homem Triste” as a work of maturity, listening, and courage.
