Yazz Ahmed, prominent trumpeter and composer on the London jazz scene, presented her multi-award-winning album ‘Polyhymnia’, on the 4th of November, at Teatro Micaelense, as part of PDL Jazz – Ponta Delgada International Jazz Festival.
Through his music, Yazz seeks to dissipate the lines between jazz and electronic sound, bringing together the sounds of his British-Bahrain heritage described as ‘psychedelic, intoxicating and attractive Arabic jazz’.
In Ponta Delgada, the trumpeter and composer will perform in a quartet accompanied by Ralph Wyld on vibraphone, David Manington on bass and Martin France on drums. Yazz Ahmed promises to mesmerise the Portuguese audience with her music and show why she is considered one of the most important names on the contemporary jazz scene.
The concert is a part of the Locomotiva Sessions programme, a cycle created by the agency and cultural producer Locomotiva Azul.
