07 May Cristina Branco presents “Mulheres de Abril” in Lisbon on May 17
On May 17, Salão de Festas d’A Voz do Operário welcomes Cristina Branco for a very special concert: “Mulheres de Abril – Cristina Branco sings José Afonso”, the live presentation of the album awarded the 2026 José Afonso Prize. This project pays tribute to the Carnation Revolution through a feminine perspective, reinterpreting the repertoire of the iconic Portuguese singer-songwriter with sensitivity and depth.
The concert features a special appearance by the Coro Infantil d’A Voz do Operário, adding a unique and emotional dimension to the performance. Cristina Branco presents a carefully crafted repertoire that brings together tradition, innovation, and emotion — an unforgettable encounter with music and Portugal’s recent history.
Marking the first live presentation of the album in band format in Lisbon, Cristina Branco is joined on stage by outstanding musicians and close collaborators on “Mulheres de Abril”: Alexandre Frazão (drums), Bernardo Moreira (double bass), Mário Delgado (guitars), Ricardo Dias (piano), and Tomás Marques (saxophone).
