Cara de Espelho releases the first original single from the new album

“Bem-Vindo” is the new single by Cara de Espelho and the first completely original track from their upcoming album, to be released in early 2026. After unveiling songs that audiences already recognize from their live shows, the band now presents an absolute debut that once again intertwines irony, critical observation, and the fusion of tradition and contemporaneity that defines their artistic identity.

With lyrics by Pedro da Silva Martins, “Bem-Vindo” addresses the national euphoria surrounding foreign capital and its social impacts. In a tone that is both light and sharp, the song humorously exposes the way everything becomes a commodity—from the material to the symbolic. The lyrics evoke images of a country put up for sale piece by piece, until, ultimately, “whoever gives us alms / will be welcome”.

In the composer’s words: “It’s a song that reflects on this national excitement about foreign capital—capital that often hides speculation, inflation, and social imbalance. […] Despite the good humor, it carries a very serious criticism, very much in Cara de Espelho’s style. So, you are all welcome to listen to this ‘Bem-Vindo’.”

The new chapter for the band—formed by Carlos Guerreiro, Luís J Martins, Maria Antónia Mendes, Nuno Prata, Pedro da Silva Martins, and Sérgio Nascimento—once again affirms the unique blend of music, lyrics, and social reflection that has made them one of the most relevant voices in contemporary Portuguese music.
